The 5-day German Schroth SBP (Schroth Best Practice) International Scoliosis Certification Course has successfully concluded in Changsha!

Course Background: The Century-Long Schroth Method, Safeguarding Hope for Scoliosis Patients
Scoliosis, especially severe cases with a Cobb angle greater than 40 degrees, has long been regarded as the exclusive domain of surgical treatment.
However, the Schroth corrective exercise method, developed by German physiotherapist Katharina Schroth in 1921, has provided an effective non-surgical rehabilitation pathway for countless scoliosis patients worldwide through its unique breathing training, three-dimensional correction and postural awareness techniques.

Participant Outcomes
1、Classification & Assessment Skills: Master scoliosis patient classification methods, rapidly identify curve patterns based on scoliosis location, direction and vertebral rotation severity, and create personalized "body maps" to lay the foundation for precise corrective training.
2、Rotational Angular Breathing Technique: Systematically learn the core Schroth Rotational Angular Breathing method. Able to guide patients to direct airflow toward the concave side of the ribcage in a corrected posture, achieving the key principle of "correction through breathing" in 3D scoliosis rehabilitation.
3、Physiological Logic Training System: Master evidence-based corrective training techniques for three fundamental postures: standing, sitting and walking. Able to independently guide patients to maintain corrected spinal alignment during daily activities and integrate corrective exercise into everyday life.
4、Practical Mastery of Classic Exercises: Perform and teach core SBP exercises with proper form, including 50X Bar Exercises, Muscle Cylinder, Frog Exercise, soft tissue mobilization techniques and corrective gait training. Master key technical details and correct common mistakes for each exercise.

5、In-Brace Training Methods: Learn to identify ill-fitting braces, then guide patients to perform in-brace breathing training and lumbar muscle activation exercises while wearing braces, so as to maximize the corrective effect of bracing.
6、Patient Education & Home Exercise Programming: Develop 15–20 minute daily home exercise routines for patients. Use mirrors, photos and X-ray images to help patients build better proprioception, and teach parents how to assist with training correctly.
7、Confidence in Non-Surgical Intervention for Large Curves: Establish a complete clinical pathway for non-surgical rehabilitation of severe scoliosis with Cobb angle ≥ 40°. Independently design full treatment plans covering assessment, training and follow-up, to reduce unnecessary surgical referrals.

Participant Feedback: More Than Just Skills, It’s a New Way of Thinking
"I previously only relied on bracing and basic stretching. Now I understand that asymmetric breathing is a key factor perpetuating scoliosis. Rotational Angular Breathing acts like a key, unlocking the concave side."
"We have many adolescent scoliosis patients at our clinic. Their parents want to avoid surgery and bulky braces, and the SBP training perfectly fills a gap in our clinic’s service offerings."

Upcoming Courses
The Schroth SBP course is far more than a technical training program — it represents a fundamental shift in clinical philosophy. It reminds us that non-surgical rehabilitation remains a viable option even for scoliosis curves with a Cobb angle greater than 40 degrees.
